Many professional editors and writers reveal their fees only after negotiations have begun, but I believe that every client deserves to have an idea of the cost from the beginning.  For this reason, I have listed the fees for my most commonly requested services.

All manuscripts must be formatted in double-spaced, 12 point type, printed on one side of the paper only and created in Microsoft Word (for electronic transmission and file opening).

Private Study

$100 per hour

The frequency and duration of the sessions will be determined by the student.   Hourly rates will be charged for the time needed to prepare for the individual sessions as well as for direct communication.   Partial hours will be prorated in blocks of 15 minutes.

Although ultimately more expensive than one-time manuscript critique, private study is the best option for writers who wish to take advantage of an ongoing relationship to improve their writing.  Private study focuses on overall improvement of skills (instead of on the strengths and weaknesses of an individual manuscript) and revision. Any writer who requests multiple looks at the same manuscript will be charged the private study rate.
