The following novels and short story collections are recommended for writers and readers of literary fiction.  Each has something different to offer as a fiction writing lesson.  Some excel in the use of lyrical language, while others are most notable for characterization or plot.  Every one of them succeeds on multiple levels, however.   (More pages of fiction will be included soon.)
